📘 About Us
East Africa Effective Altruism (EAEA) is a growing, community-driven initiative dedicated to advancing the principles of Effective Altruism in the East African region. We bring together local leadership, evidence-based thinking, and ethical commitment to maximize impact in a complex world.

EAEA was initially launched by Umoja Greenlands—an East African-based organisation focused on regenerative ecosystems, compassionate governance, and plant-based resilience—but is intended to grow into an independent, inclusive hub for anyone interested in exploring and applying EA ideas in an East African context. Our aim is to provide a neutral, collaborative space where people from diverse backgrounds can connect, learn, and take high-impact action.

🌀 How We’re Organized

EAEA is coordinated through a self-organizing structure inspired by Holacracy, with a central governance team called the Effective Altruism Circle.

This Circle defines core strategy, learning priorities, and collaboration mechanisms for building EA literacy and aligned action in East Africa.
